Default Interest in a CNC-Machined Billet Overbore-Throttle Body

Well, we have some CNC access and we can make Billet Aluminum CNC-Machined throttle bodies in any bore for the tC. All we need is one throttle body for digital mapping, (we return it a week or 2 later), then voila! ANY bore from there....70mm, 80mm....

We need genuine interest. Prices can not be determined at yet until we actually digitally assess the TB.

Anyone?

How would this compare to the alphaworks throttle body? Theirs is a 60mm bore that gave them a gain of 24bhp and 19lbs/tq to the wheel it is $400! Thats only $16per 1hp. That is much cheaper than the $50 per 1hp in a turbo kit! (even though I am still getting a turbo kit) I think if you could do a little larger bore that would be great as long as the pricing was fair!

I was going to go with the alphaworks one since it is the only one I could find until this thread came up!

Keep us informed if you go through with this!!

This will almost undoubtedly happen. We just need some interest to keep costs down.

We can do 60, 65,70,75.....any bore you may want.

BTW, you can compare a turbo kit to a TB. A turbo kit is far more expandable in creating power than a thorttle body that is only 1 small piece of a larger puzzle. A turbo (ours for example) will yield 100whp & 100wtq @ 8.5 PSI. But at all will yeild 132whp & 140wtq gain at 11 PSI. Same price of the turbo kit.

24 hp gain was from intake, header, and exhaust as well.

What's involved in removing a TB? If I can do it and reinstall, I may be interested in the idea...

Curious as to the real gain from this though?

I’ve had the throttle body off several times, it takes about ten minutes to remove it and I can live with out it for a week or so. What exactly are you looking to do to the throttle body. What cost is associated to the person donating the throttle body for testing?

How will the bored throttle body benefit the items I have listed here.

Im interested!!!

BTW what difference does the bore sizing make? I'm not totally sure how or why a throttle body works, can you give me some info?in small words please

I don't get it. If you need one for mapping, you should do it for free to the first person to send one! I mean, you ARE going to be making a ton on these once they get rolling. Why not do the first 'prototype' for free? Speaking of which, I'll send you mine for an xB...

If you go too large would'nt you have to port the intake manifold also?
It's plastic(intake manifold) also right ?
How about a BBTB and a larger intake manifold to complement it.

ditto

and as far as the aw t/b it only showed 1hp diffrance with and without it when they dynoed all there mods just do a search for it i know there is a thread some where one here showing the diffrance

Well guys, the damgers of boring too large is the fact of fitment to the intake manifold. A larger bore on a TB will yeild some gains because it is allowing more air to enter the intake manifold per 'flap' opening. This creates leaner mixtures and in result making power. We have almost free reign of how larger we want to go, but as I stated previously it can lead to some fitment issues.

With respect to 1st ones, you get your original back within a week. So, THAT is why we are offering a discounted TB to those folks. FREE is too costly because CNC Billet Aluminum is no joke when it comes to costs......

Here is the Corvette C5 one we did

if the throttle body bore is too big, will the intake tube not fit? i suppose people with aftermarket intakes would just need a larger diameter cupler.

what about pairing a larger bore to the openning on the intake manifold?

I think the only way this would have good gains is if you match it up with a good intake manifold.

How about making a intake manifold? I am interested either way, it's good so see more performance parts being made.
