Default K&N CAI Review?

Hey all,

I have been looking at everyones take on the various CAI's available for tC's. It seems the injen is the most popular and I am leaning towards that one. However, I noticed this K&N CAI: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/mm...ake~parts.html

I have the RS2 and was thinking that blue color would look cool. Anyone know or can give feedback on this CAI in terms of performance, sound, and installataion? Thanks!

I have the K&N typhoon on my car...I modified it though to work on the supercharger. I lost a little low end tq but gained a lot in the mid/high range which Is what I wanted to begin with...theres way to much wheel spin down low to begin with if you dont feather it perfectly everytime. The K&N is really easy to install and sounds great...also looks good sitin pretty in the engine bay

I think the blue would match good with the blitz. I have one and its great.^^^pretty much everything he said without the supercharger.

I returned it to the place I bought it. It screwed with the idling on my car when cold and I didn't like the sound.

They produce little to no power.. but look and sound decent. Got one for free, broke the mounting bracket off the top of the motor mount in about a month.. I have heard of about 5 others with the same issue. Thier moutning design is horrible unless they have redesigned it.

i've heard about 50 people with the same issue. I had it and got an Injen instead. It looks like crap and is built like crap. From this one experience alone, I'd never buy another K&N product....it's like they R&D'd it by looking at the engine bay and just taking parts they had lying around the shop to make it.

Hate it!

Well, I don't plan on supercharging my car so I don't think I will take the risk. I have heard the injen CAI is difficult to install, how true is this?

only "difficult" part is fitting the cold air tube without scratching it up. If you remove the bumper, however, it's a breeze. And removing the bumper takes all of 5 mins maybe.

The install took me about 30 min without removing the bumper.. like he said, you just have to be careful threading the tube through. But go ahead and start designing a new mount for it now before the bracket breaks

I have been reading some threads that people are having trouble installing the injen cai with the tube fitting. Would I need to buy anything additionaly to install the injen cai?

buy some dumbells.. it takes some serious pressure to put hte pipe in for the injen.. i just did an install, it wasnt too hard, just be careful, take some vaseline and put it on the tube and the inner fender... makes it much much easier

Cool, thanks. Now, where is the best place to get the injen CAI. I know a lot of you have this, so where did you get yours?

TPD racing is having a big sale.

I bought the Injen for $207 + 25 shipping. It literally arrived the next day.

If not them, keep your eyes open. Most will do $260+ shipping, but that's a rip.
