Default K&N Intake "Clink" Noises.......

About two months ago I had installed the K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake system and since then I have had no problems reguarding sound, speed etc. But only about two weeks or so after the install I started hearing metallic "Clinking" noises coming from the front left hand side of the fender wall. I popped the hood and realized that the intake tube, right at the elbow that dips down into the fender, was rubbing up against the wall causing engine vibration noises etc. This has been really annoying and it makes it sound cheap when I start up the car etc., I was wondering if there was anything I could put between the wall and the tube that would prevent contact and end the noises?

I just used a 14" plastic zip tie, wrapped it around the intake and looped it through somewhere on the fender to pull back on the intake and its fixed.

Mine would hit the metal above the elbow and vibrate under certain conditions. I took a piec of vaccum hose, slit it and stuck it on the metal part, with some tape to hold it there. Now there's a nice pad for it. Problem solved.

Default hrmmm

Double sided tape + some sort of soft fabric would work, or foam strip, should stop the sound... ?

Felt. Always with the Felt.

If it works for the Scion mechanics to fix rattles in the car I'm sure it goes well with the intake problem.

(this is in no way a bash at any way problems are fixed, but a truthful suggestion with ironic sarcasm. Thank You.)

i think the bolts loosen up after awhile, someone was saying if you go back and use blue locktight on the threads of the bolt it will keep it from loosening. if you position it right you can probably get it to fit perfect without any noise.
and yes i've just noticed the same thing happening to me, after about 2 months

My bolts all have loctite and I have plenty of clearance at idle, but the engine move around a lot and can make the tube contact the metal under heavy load. A pad of some kind makes the voices stop.

I don't have the K&N but my intake does the same thing. I just slit a rubber tube and slipped it over the piece of metal it was banging against.

I taped the afro end of some velcro around the body parts that were touching the tube. no rattling

My K&N CAI also did rattled when taking off in 1st gear.. it's kinda ghetto but I put a folded up paper towel under the intake (the normal place where it rubs).

You can't see it at all, and it makes the rattle disappear.

this happens to any intake my weapon-r intake did that too, the filter was bumpin against the metal under the strut tower... no worries, just re-position the intake and make sure its tight in place..

haha i put 5 layers of electrical tape on the metal spot where the filter bumps on, it helped...
