Default Lets talk about Custom Midpipes.

I am looking to get some info about custom midpipes and wanted to get some input from others with experience in getting a custom midpipe. Im looking for something to go with my trd axelback and there is only 2 aftermarket options that i know of(tsudo and megan). Im thinking of going the custom route but i have no idea where to start.

If anyy of you can help me out with some advice on places to go or what prices id be looking at that would be cool. I can tell you i am looking for a 2.25 inch pipe with at least one resonator welded on. I might get a header in the future so i want to be prepared for the rasp lol. Im located in SE PA about an hr from philly and an hr from baltimore. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

if you want to install header in the future, you need 2 resonator weld in. which mean this will replace the stock resonator and put 2 other resonators in. it might cost you about $400. can be cheaper if you can find a better place to do the job for you.

i suggest you get the megan midpipe and weld one more resonator. it will cost about the same but it give a little better performance with a 2.5" piping.

all this information can find in this forum, search first before you post a new thread.

Thanks for the response. Well im not for sure im going to get a header and if i do it wwont be for a while. My main focus is just finding a place that will do a custom midpipe and not cost me a fortune.

I have searched quite a bit about this topic thats why i posted a thread specifically asking for people with custom midpipes.

I disagree that the megan midpipe is 2.5.(im pretty sure its 2.35) Also i dont think Going with a 2.5 inch midpipe will give better performance. Ive actaully read quite a bit about n/a cars with 2.5 inch midpipes losing hp and low end tq due to lack of backpressure. Thats why im trying to keep it 2.25.

if i were you i would stick with 2.25 if your staying NA. plus you could prolly looking into the raceland catback exhaust...i mean sure its going to come with another muffler which you could just throw on only in the winter or something but it will go from the header back i believe....plus its only like $160 but dont quote me on that price.

adding a resonator is not cheap. you have to look around to find a good place

it costs me $200 for just a 14" of resonator plus labor and i'll never want to go back to the same place again. lol

i'll say that if you not sure getting the header, don't need to wates any resonator add on until you really desire it.

just get a megan midpipe and you should be set; and i still dont get where you guys are paying an crap load for resonators; i laugh cuz you're all overpaying and some still have rasp. right after the spipe they put an 18" one on mine for 65$ and only time i have any rasp is if i'm close to redline when i decide to jump on it on the highway. so paying 200-400 is rediculous; find a small exhaust shop and they will do good work for a ton cheaper
