Default Low Oil Issue...

I have an '07 tc and it only has 25,000 miles on it. I drive about 7,500 miles a year.
Well, the issue I'm concerned about is I changed my oil last fall with full synthetic mobile 1, with mobile 1 filter. I figured it's been awhile since I checked my oil level, so I did and I was a little more than 1 quart low on oil. WTH?

This car has never used oil like that before.

I see no leaks, I baby the car, for the most part, and I'm sure the level was up when I changed the oil last year.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Also, it's not under warranty anymore.

It could be that you have a bad PCV valve. Might want to go ahead and replace it since they are due at 30k miles for replacement. Make sure to use one from the scion dealership. You can also check to see if there is oil in the breather tube going to the intake.

I have heard of other tcs consuming a similar amount of oil though.

Watching. I have the same issue. I remember adding around 1 quart. About 2.5k Mi. from the last oil change. Haven't been checking on it lately but should.

In how many miles? It could be normal, especially if you had just driven it on the highway and it has been a while since you checked/changed it. Between oil changes (5-6,000 miles or so for me) I lose about 1/2 qt, which is pretty typical of a lot of new cars. Some use more.

Well, the responses I got make me feel a little better about the situation.

We all seem about about the same on oil use.

I've never had a car that used up oil, unless it had high miles. My 98 altima never used a drop of oil and I beat the crap out of it, but if this is normal for toyota engines then i can live with it.

Better check my wife's oil in her focus....i know, i know, focus : ( , but it's not mine. I only drive it sometimes. hahaha

I read somewhere that the auto industry considers a vehicle that consumes 1 quart of oil every thousand miles-ish "normal". I thought they were insane but I've noticed with our high mileage Bimmer that it drinks the stuff but runs like a top and the plugs are perfect. No smoke from the exhaust either... weird.

ive had the same issue for years. i got an oil change 1000 miles ago, and i drove 300 miles straight this weekend to PA and it was about half a quart missing. but without taking long trips i always have to add a quart halfway through my oil change scheduled maintenance (3000k miles or so)

mobil1 5w30 and Fram filter here. also my car has about 116k miles

i actually like the poofing lol looks funny when someones behind you haha. im thinking it is the synthetic oil, ive used it since i bought the car 5 yrs ago and its been like that ever since, its even happened to my EP3 civic and my brothers EP3 and FA5 civic now. so he went to regular oil and it hasnt happened.

shouldnt be too bad

Its not the synthetic. I run RP in 3 cars with no issues of oil consumption, including my 180,000 mile Saturn. I have heard of certain older vehicles that seemed to lose oil faster with synthetic, but that is pretty rare and I have never heard of an issue like that in newer vehicles.

If you see smoke out your exhaust, and you dont have some tuning changes/FI, etc. then you have something going on.

mines been puffing smoke at WOT shifting since i got the car 5 yrs ago, which is weird. im not worried about it, it only does it at WOT shifting. driving normal even aggressive but not at WOT it doesnt do it.

someone has said its bc i have a header and removed the primary cat from the stock header, but idk.
