also i found this TSB one day after i remeber hearing about this somewhere. http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Scion/114...0000_EG018-06/ According to this it says that the 2AZ-FE should be using 0W-20. Except in the table on the second page all the other models using the 2AZ-FE Engine are listed except the tC so does this mean that i should disregard the TSB or should i disregard what the oil cap says and go with what the TSB says.

Somebody please tell me what is the right viscosity to use! Thanx!!!!
Yeah you know that little thing that comes with cars called an owner manual? Well if you look inside, it says to use 5W-30.

i used mobil1 in my 05 rolla but i've switching to royal purple because i read that royal purple and redline and only certain others (not mobil1) are "fully synthetic" others (like mobil1) are not. synthetic = better start up protection and better fuel economy more time between oil changes.

Mobile 1 is a fully synthetic oil (as it states on the bottle) or else they would, by law, have to advertise it as a synthetic blend.

for those who use synthetic, how often do we all change the oil? 3K, 5K, 7K? Let's hear a bunch of replies on this!

yea, thats interesting b/c I figured 5K would be on the safe side and 7K would even be ok. After all, they advertise synthetic as a LONG lasting/durable oil that lasts potentially up to 10K miles.

Any others willing to share how long they go between oil changes on synthetic?

I just did a oil change with mobil 1 synthetic today. Hopped on to an on ramp and did a 2nd gear pull and it was smooth all the way up to redline. You should have seen the oil that came out of the car. I will never take my car to the dealer for an oilchange again. They lsat tiem i did, the service punk was nice enough to light up my tires for me before handing me the keys.

Recently Toyota re-spec'ed a bunch of motors to run a 20 weight motor oil. You will be fine.

The tsb says 5w-20, but you can use either. The 2 oils are VERY similar to one another and you'll be fine with either. Since you're on Long Island, right near me, what I do is use 5w-20 in the winter and fall and 5w-30 in the summer and spring. The heavier weight oil does better in hot temperatures and the lower weight for the cooler temps
