Are you sure the CEL is from the anti-fouler and not some other problem? If your mileage is bad, it sounds like the main O2 on the header is acting up. The second O2 shouldnt affect richness (a/f) at all.

place the anti-fouler on the O2 sensor in the s-pipe instead of the header...supposedly that works

whoa whoa whoa...

NEVER install the antifoulers on the header. NEVER

I've seen this on the forums quite a bit lately. I really hope you guys realize its the 2nd sensor on the exhaust side (go look at your s-pipe) that is throwing the CEL in the first place.

Kaeon's FAQ : https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=56520 has the anti-fouler trick outlined perfectly. If you follow these instructions you should not have a CEL. If you do have a CEL and have followed his FAQ, then it is likely there is some other problem and you should get the car scanned to see what is really going on.

Like I said I was under the impression people were not doing this...thats why I said that. Maybe I was wrong.

OMG!!! I cannot believe people would put anti-foulers/spacers on the primary O2 sensor!! Crazy.

Read the DTC that causes the CEL, then try to fix it. CEL does not have a universal solution - it can be triggered by a lot of things.

Well, diagnosing what's wrong just by the fact that you have a CEL is like saying "I don't feel well, how do I get better?".

So let's try to figure out what the problem is first, and then worry about prices of O2 sensors these days ;)

Get the code and give us a call we maybe able to help. We stock both 02 sensors if you need one. The front 02 shoudl not throw a CEL unless it is faulty regardless of A/F. The rear sensor does chane the gas mileage although it is not a wide band if it reads excessive flow it will dump fuel to compensate.

ive been haveing the same problem. the CEL comes on sooner and sooner everytime. .before it came on every 1000 miles or so with just 1 antifouler..so i put 2 antifoulers on and it comes on within 20 -50 miles..and i noticed when i changed from 91 octane to 89 it started showing up sooner..and my milage went from 32 to about 25 or worse..ive had my car scaned 2 times at autozone for free, and both time i got the same code p1036 bank 1 sensor 2. did you drill your antifouler out to 1/2 inch? i have the drilled out one screwed into the regular one and it still dont work. and the added length of 2 antifouler makes the o2 sensor hit and rattle on something under the car when i put it in reverse which i think might of damaged it. but i think im going to buy a new o2 sensor when the spipe gets here and try over again
