Default New alternator after 4 years?

Hey guys,

I have an 06 tc RS 2.0 and my alternator just died. I had my car stored over the winter (stupid me did not unplug the battery or anything) so when I picked it up the battery was dead. I bought a new battery at AutoZone and the car started fine until just a few days ago. I started the car fine and drove to the gym. After my work out when I tried to start the car it was completely dead.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this does sound like a dead alternator. From my experiences having a dead alternator after only 4 years seems way too early. I called my dealer and they said it was not covered under the 5 year power train warranty (it was under the 3 year comprehensive). Does this sound right to you? A bad alternator after 4 years or is it possibly from storing the car?

Thanks,

Shane

Sounds to me like the alternator. But if it was me... I personally would take it to a private shop and see if it is actually the alternator. There's a lot of places that will do free check ups. The NTB by me does free checkups.

Wow... I figured it out. Believe it or not the terminal connects on the battery were loose and it was not fully charging the battery. Very weird.

Probably happened when you replaced the battery the first time. Its a common problem. People dont realize that the terminals have to be on tight. Tight enough to where they wont move when you try to wiggle it.
