o2 sensor problem check engine light. (what can happen?)
well i found out im throwing a code for o2 sensor.
throwing a code something like po 318 or something.
seems like i might be having like a leak. from o2 sensor and the header.
couldnt tighten the o2 sensor all the way in. so i could be having alittle leak.
or the o2 sensor isnt working at all..
whats the worst thing that can happen to my car.?
a friend of mine was telling me. that its throwing a code cuase there is alittle bit of a leak. all its doing it running alittle rich and is using more fuel.
im trying to make money so i can buy the stock header and the new o2 sensor.
hopefully i can get thoes 2 things by next week or so. i dont like having CEL on when im driving.. drives me insane..
will my car be ok.?

You need to know what the code says exactly.. I'm not familiar with a P0318... a P0308 is a misfire code for cylinder #8 - so that shouldn't apply to you.
Your car should be under warranty - why not take it to the dealer??

What does it mean??
Ok.. like I said.. I was driving with a bad O2 sensor. My check engine light showed a code of P0171 - which means System Lean Bank 1... which means my the O2 sensor thinks the car is running lean.
I fixed it by taking it to the dealer because I'm under warranty.. but I could have fixed it myself by buying a new O2 sensor.
Just dont' drive it hard and you'll be fine.

the thing is the CEL dissapeared
but last nite i was coming back home from freeway the CEL came back on again..
does it do that normally ? or did someone bad happen again.
like did some other code come up.?
were u able to drive around with that code po171?
im planning on goin to check my car with scanner again. just to make sure im not getting other codes..

Yes it comes and goes... the codes are timed by what Scion calls "Drive cycles".. if the light goes away, the code still exists, and is just hiding in the ECU.
Yes I was able to drive with my code. In fact the car drove fine - it was the CEL that was annoying to me.
Just drive it normally until you get the stock header on - then take it to the dealer.

What you should do to put your mind at ease in the meantime is stop by any local autoparts store. Not sure what they have in CA but like a Checker, Advanced Autoparts, etc. They all have the OBDII code readers on hand and can check what the code actually means. The CEL generally needs to be tripped (on) to read it correctly. Then if it's minor you know you wont be damaging anything by driving it until you can get to the dealer. If you're running a racing header like I am... PM me back and I'll tell you how to fix the CEL for that situation.
