^^ I think OBX's primary point of sale is eBay, the only place I ever see any of their stuff, personally

true, you will save a bit of money, but will it be worth the risk? As nychold posted, it may come back and bite you on the butt cheeks. Then again, it might be the best investment you can make. all in all, you seem to be volunteering to be SL guinea pig of the week

+1 about the phantom grip. The phantom grip goes right into factory open diff. to make it function like an LSD.

Throughout the years, i've heard more negatives than positives from phantom grip owners. So i guess it is just a hit or miss with the phantom grip.

I hope it works so I can save some cash!

Oh and have a transmission shop check out the diff before installation, some OBX diffs had the shims installed incorrectly and bolts not torqued down enough.

I have the phantom grip and it does not work like an LSD, I'm very disappointed and I am going to be putting in a TRD LSD real soon.

So i guess everyone chickened out like i did with the obx?

I didnt want to be the sacrificial lamb!

Any updates on if ANYONE had the ***** to try this?

Even at $400 for the unit its still around $500 to install...that makes it alot of money to waste still if it doesn't work out!

OBX makes nothing but junk. Every now and then you find someone that got lucky and have had a good experience, but on average, putting an OBX LSD in a car is like putting a hand grenade in your trans. You don't know when it'll go, but it definitely will.

^^^I've heard that before from a few people...then again i've heard positives from quite a few about the obx and that in some cases has lasted longer than the Quaife...some people swear by the obx...i know Quaife (TRD) makes an excellent lsd, thing is its so expensive! May be worth it though if its now backed by the factory too.

Yeah, Quaife makes a quality product. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. The only instance I can see an OBX outlasting a Quaife is if the Quaife were improperly installed. Even then though, I would have to see it to believe it.

The LSD will work for either transmission.
