Default Parking brake light is stuck on

My parking brake light is always on. It use to stay on until I gave it some gas then it would go off. Now it just stays on all the time. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Your brake pads are probably low - which is causing your fluid reservoir to be low - which causes your brake light to come on.

So check your pads.

Dont add more fluid unless you find a leak and fix it. If there is no leak and it is low, you need to replace the pads. The fluid level will then be back at the correct place.

And for reference, that is not a parking brake light. It comes on when the park brake is on, but it also tells you when you are losing brake fluid or if there is another brake pressure related issue in the system.

Yes, that is exactly what it is. The acceleration (and inertia) cause the fluid to swish around so it reads low at those times and kicks the light on.

Yep. Checked the pads, and I have a little less than a 1/4 in of pad left. So I topped off the fluid, and hasn't come on since. It's still probably a good idea to change my pads, my local parts store only had the cheap ones, so gunna place an order in a week or so for some good pads.

Thanks

Ya, topping off with fluid will turn the light off for now - but just know that when you put new pads on and have to push out the calipers, you will probably overflow that reservoir. So you may want to suck out a little bit of fluid with a turkey baster or something before moving the calipers.

Definitely take some of the fluid out before pushing the piston back in. You don't want brake fluid to touch your paint it could eat through it.

*** Edit, that wasnt aimed at you js. The post it was aimed at has been deleted now so it just looks that way****

^^ didnt you get post removed trying to sell something pretty much right when you joined? As an FYI, posing a ton of few word posts a day just to reach 50 can also get you banned. Mods are not too friendly about that. I say this because bascially every post you have made since then is just agreeing with what others have already said and almost all of them just have a few words in them.
