Default Chips

not really any performance chips for a Scion...our ECU just has to be difficult haha.. the Unichip is really the only one that I know of and the only reason i would get one of those if i were you is if you were planning on getting boosted..else it wont do much for you.. now there are plenty of piggy-back softwares ive heard of..like Camcon, has something to do with the VVT-i you can basically tweak with stuff on that..but for instant bolt on or plug in power..you wont find a chip unless its the Unichip...
I could be wrong though! haha

This isn't really a performance "chip" as much as it is a piggyback to the ECU. There's a HUGE difference.

The "performance chips" you see on eBay and such are all 100% absolute junk. That's why they're so cheap.

Not if you don't have some serious performance mods to go with it. They're a bit more common on a boosted tC... but IMO not really worth the $$ for NA.

Like some of the others where saying you have to rememeber that the unichip is basically a enigine management system that is used to tune the car. They advertise it as a performance chip because most people that purchase it probably are not going to have it tuned, they just want the extra power it gives you right out of the box. For me it works great because I have nitrous and can switch maps at the push of a button. Others that just have regular bolt ons will benifit also by increase torque and horsepower throughout the band and it will also help gas mileage when your not hitting the pedal hard. It is a great mod and I think it is well worth the money, especially when you look at all it features compared to AEM and Greedy.

To me the unichip is defiantly not worth $500 to get 14 hp if it would even get that, it may be okay for F/I but n/a it is too much money.

hmm..i'm actually moderately interested in the unichip..kinda curious to see where it goes. I agree it is pricey for the gains but given an I/H/E/P setup on an N/A i'm curious to see what kind of gains it would yield and, provided a tuner can be found, what can be gained from it through a tuner..i

if the pre-programmed map that it comes with yields 14hp and 11tq i wonder if anything else can be squeezed out with a good tune? I don't have much experience with this stuff but it definitely has my curiosity

My guess is those 14/11 numbers were on some entirely different vehicle putting out a LOT different power. The tC probably gains much less than that NA.

yeah good point..still...kinda interested to see where this goes..

A lot of people ask about chips for our cars and this premapped EMS seems to be kinda the closest thing so far *shrug* I doubt I'll actually get it (unless I see some dynos with various N/A setups which probably won't happen anytime soon lol) but IMO it's always nice to see new performance options coming out..just my .02

For simplicity, ya, this would seem to be one of the simplest and easiest to plug and play... but it just might be a bit more trouble to have custom tuned.

Hi here's the dyno run I did with a 65 shot of nitrous. This is horse power and torque to the wheels and it was tune with 92 octane gas.

you wouldn't happen to have a before and after would you? also for the hp part of the chart what are the numbers in the green boxes vs the ones in the yellow boxes? sorry for the n00b question but i'm not to good at reading those things.

Don't get a unichip, there aren't a lot of tuners for them, then again it depends on where you live. If you get a Hydra or AEM you have more options for tuners and more configuration options.

In the box to the right are the horse power gains with the nitrous, represented by the upper two lines and the bottom lines are the HP gains with the unichip and other mods. I don't have a dyno of a before and after with just the unichip alone, but there is one on there website now I believe.

As far as tuners go, there aren't as many out there yet like there are for AEM and others, but there are becoming more and more. Since you live in CA you will have know problem finding one. I mean I live in Iowa and found one not to far from me, so don't worry about not finding a tuner.

Default Price comparison

Hey guys, here a price comparison off different enginement manage systems. This shows in my opinion way Unichip is the best for the money

Hydra: $1850
GReddy Ultimate: $653+$310 for harness=$963
AEM FIC: $409+$310 for PnP harness=$719
GReddy Main: =$369+$310 for harness=$679
Camcom=$440 but you have to wire it, no PnP

Unichip=$450 come with a harness and a switch to change between 2 maps and it does just about anything the other engine management system can do and Unichip can also be pre-tune it for you.
