Default Photos of REMOVED SILENCER.

Nothing too fancy under my hood. Except a removed silencer! Notice the $0.77 cent white, rubber stopper filling up the hole?

Mhhhh. Louder engine on stock car.

UPDATED: MORE IMPORTANT TIPS

#1: Have the right end of your top airbox cover resting on the silver clips so it's open on the right side about 1 1/2 inches. Helps a LITTLE more with sound increase and pull. The air will still get filtered.

#2: Don't remove the cheap plastic intake tube that goes to the wheel-well. If you do remove it [I've done this] the air being sucked into your engine is HOT since it's taking it from inside your hood and will DECREASE noise and performance.

#3: Don't look at this mod as an alternative mod for a CAI. This is just a cheap trick to hold you off til your ready for the real deal.

I tried something like that on mine, before I got my Injen, but I didnt find it to be very much louder. I was only doing it as a holdover untill I got my CAI. But it was back to stock after a drive around the block with minimal satisfaction "with removing the silencer".

I heard many people say that CAI are not really worth the money. Headers seemed to buy the best "bang-for-your-buck".

What's your opinion?

overall best bang for the buck is the trd supercharger.

you will also see more benefit out of a real nice set of tires (as opposed to stock) than you will any exhaust mod.

intakes are sound. they increase peak horsepower by a very minimal amount and look good under the hood and they sound alright...that's about it.

minimal amount? injen cai is 9-10 hp (check the intake dyno thread) and sounds damn good. try drivin around with one and it'll change your perspective. there's a definite difference.

Those results are questionable to me. But even so, the add that PEAK, not across the whole band. You will not notice the power difference other than having your butt dyno fooled by the sound.

is that a bathtub drain plug? seriously that is a great idea....i would just paint it black.....
no it will not harm the car in anyway to remove this, usually they have them (resonator) in the bumper, but i guess toyota designed theres to have in the engine bay......

Pretty interesting. There should be no harmful side effects as a result. As far as best bang for the buck, it is neither the intake, header, exhaust, SC, nor any of the turbo kits out there. Try again guys ;)

Best bang for the buck is weight reduction, costs $0 and probably gives you better acceleration then most CAIs.

Where did you get that rubber stopper and is there a black one available?
