I'm saving up for a Injen CAI, Headers (gold). I like the setup of this tC pictured below. I also want to paint my engine cover that exact same color. Though the Bright Red of my TRD brace would conflict a little.

what tool did u use to remove the silencer? both my screwdrivers wouldnt fit. i did take off the tube that runs down the fender, it sounds sorta like a quiet aftermarket intake now. will the change of removing the silencer be as drastic as removing the fender tube?

Answers for the top two posts.
*Performance Increase: Removing the silencer alone, no. I'd call it more of an engine dress-up mod than anything else. But if you want a little more kick from this mod.. read the post that will follow this one.
*Driving w/ Rubber Stopper: I've drivin' with this mod for a little over a week. The stopper is safe and stays right where you put it. I don't even think about it while I'm driving. I usually am thinking about what it'll feel like when I get my headers and intake. And new tires, amen!

MORE IMPORTANT TIPS
#1: Have the right end of your top airbox cover resting on the silver clips so it's open on the right side about 1 1/2 inches. Helps a LITTLE more with sound increase and pull. The air will still get filtered.
#2: Don't remove the cheap plastic intake tube that goes to the wheel-well. If you do remove it [I've done this] the air being sucked into your engine is HOT since it's taking it from inside your hood and will DECREASE noise and performance.
#3: Don't look at this mod as an alternative mod for a CAI. This is just a cheap trick to hold you off til your ready for the real deal.

are you sure it decreases noise? does it just get quieter if you unplug the tube while having a plugged silencer? cuz my silencer is still on but my tube is unplugged and its a big ___ difference compared to if it was plugged in. i dont care too much about performance right now because i have an auto and no power mods, but dont you think also if the intake is open a little its still gonna be sucking some hot air in?
