pipe diameter on CAI 2 piece (can u use bypass valve)*EDITED
I have been waiting for the dealer to provide the new AEM intake for my just bought 06 TC. It was included in the purchase. Yet still it is not here. They claim it is the one they will warranty because of the bypass valve.
I think I got the parts manager thinking he may order me an another CAI system if a bypass valve can be used instead of the coupler where the 2 pipes would meet on a full cold air intake. So I would need to know what size bypass valve (diameter) and what are the full CAI available so I can give him names/places and part numbers so I can move on with the car!
Any thoughts? Is K&N the only full CAI available?

you dont need the bypass valve. Get rid of the AEM and purchase the Injen.
the designs on the AEM that pass CARB will not make enough gains to make marketing the AEM worth it. The Injen is a better part anyway,
The filter on the TC sits under the headlight and is encased in a compartment where no water can get to unless you drive into a lake.
You can install the intake yourself in less than 2 hours. Just need to remove the front wheel and unbolt the fender liner to access where the filter will sit. Post here and I will step by step it for you.
I live in Iowa where it SNOWS and I dont have the bypass and I have not had a problem

I think you may misunderstand. Yes the dealer built into the price of my car the future AEM (which I don't believe we have seen HP specs on yet?) becuase of the bypass valve. If I can get them to scrap that and buy me a different full 2 piece CAI all I need to do is show them that we can install a bypass valve (bought seperate) on the system where the coupler brings the pipes together. I can take out the bypass valve and put the coupler back in when I drive away.
So I just need to know if that seems possible and what diameter pipes the full CAI systems available are using..... so I can get it taken care of that way.

I believe the diameter is 2.75". I had to buy a rubber gasket to keep mine from rattling and I believe that was the diameter. I hope this helps and I am 90% sure that was the diameter.
Injen's p/n is: SP2110
it is available in polished or black.

So I had heard the the full CAI from Injen was not really made to bolt on TC? So it is made for the TC and 2.75 on the pipe.
So the other is the K&N..anyone know the dimenson?
Any help here would be appreciated.

I thought I would update this for future searchers. The Injen CAI will not do a bypass valve as pipe one is like 2.5 or 2.75 inches and pipe two enlarges to 3" (you could cut it thought).
The K&N is a full 3" system and where the coupler meets the two pipes a 3" bypass valve will fit.
