Default Purpose of the foam around the vauum tube?

I just replaced the stock piping from the throttle body to the air box. However after reconnecting the vacuum tube the new piping...the foam around it just barely touching the top right corner of the engine(or what I assume is part of the engine...can't really see with the engine cover on).

My question is simple...will the foam be okay?

Do you mean your oil air vent? I hope you didn't connect a vacuum line to your airbox, becuase you won't have a vacuum anymore....

If thats the line you are referring to the answer is yes it'okay, that line is not crucial

lol as you can tell I don't know how the car works as well as I should. There was only one line that I had to disconnect...on the intake pipe close to the throttle body. I did not touch any of the wires/tubes that attach to the stock airbox.

What does the oil air vent do?
