the guy with the xb got it done and says he stays with stock xb's becauce he has 20 inch rims and to note his dyno came in at 100whp with only an intake and the remap

Let us know how it works out...Take pics, and dyno before and after..

If it is true, that guy can make lots of $$$.

Read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_Control_Unit

Unless you have a Race ECU it cannot be remaped. What he is doing is just flashing it with the OBD ll - which in my opinion doesn't do much.

I don't think toyota makes their own ECU, a lot of car companies do that-if they made their own ECU it would take a lot longer to get the cars out.
(I saw this on the discovery channel)
It's also not "cracking" it, it is meant to be altered. Those "speed chips" or whatever it is you see on ebay that give you more horespower do a similar thing.
But all of these things are at your own risk, because most of your car relies on this tiny little computer-and you deffinitely don't want to mess that up-unless you REALLY know what you are doing.
Believe me, my boyfriend's car is acting really really strange-seems like it has a mind of its own. We have checked everything that could possible be wrong with it-had a mechanic go over it for 8 hours- found nothing. Popped open the ECU-and found the problem. Granted it's a 91 dodge stealth, but whatever.
