If you are NA stretch the oil change out till 7000 miles or so but change the filter at around 3500 as they start to loose the ability to do thier job around 4000 miles or so and this is all filters not just K&N, FRAM or OEM. Don't forget to top off after a filter change! If you are boosted go with a standard oil change interval. I notice a smoother running motor and 2mpg increase about 6000 miles into my switch over, btw I only ran the first oil change to 4000 and dumped it to get what ever oil was left from before the swap and contaminants out.
Um how do you change your oil filter without losing oil. You pull that bad boy off and all that wonderful oil spills. Is there a secret I dotn know about.
That's why I said don't forget to top off the oil after you swap the filter. But it will just be a little bit not the full amount like Ace said..

***UPDATE***

I been using Royal Purple Oil & there Oil Filter for a while now & I do not have any plans on going back to what I was using before. Royal Purple has made my motor run smoother & I have gotten around 15-40 mpg on each full tank of gas. The thing I like best about Royal Purple is that makes your car run cooler.

I have even done Royal Purple vs. Am soil in my 2001 SR5 4Runner & they well Royal Purple makes my have a smoother idle & the engine temperature is lower. I have gained better MPG around about 3 miles extra on each gallon so 16 gallons x 3 = 48 miles I have gained on a full take of gas. I also have a few moods done to the 4Runner such as K&N Short Ram Intake & Flow Master Exhaust system. All & all I would have to say that using on 3 different cars over the past 2 years I have noticed that you get for what you pay. Royal Purple will make your car run better & you will see gains.
