Safe Rev limit on stock bottom end?

Ok guys, our motor is bone stock and then adds supercharging and intercooling.
We rev to about 7,200 regularly, but have seen more than that from time to time. The engine internals handle it just fine. The extra revs in our case result in two things...production of boost, and the ability to hold gears longer.
The latter results in being able to wind out and hold a gear down a chute. It also means the rev drop on the upshifts keeps the engine in a better place of the band.

okay its nice to know that the tC can handle higher revs i probally want go past like 6.8k but that should have me going plenty fast at the top of 5th lol on the ultimate when ever i boost do i tell the tuner to raise the rev limit right their and then or is it safe to change it on my on

Well the thing is, I wouldnt recommend relying on higher rev limits to increase your top speed as thats kinda a band aid, just lengthen your gearing if thats the case, as the engine bearing stress increases with increased RPM, and it increases with load ( 5th gear provides the most loading of the engine as its the least torquey ratio), and youd be doing both those things trying to hit top speed. Just a thought.

And another reason im looking for increased rev limit was stated by adg016, I like to hit up track days, and I love the short gearing on the tC, but I hate that it means that ill have to shift while going up a hill, as you lose tons of precious momentum doing that, even if I wasnt making peak HP higher up in the revband, itd still be nice to keep pulling when I needed it too.

Though we do NOT recommend exploring this on the street (take it to track, guys), here's the math on the gearing...bottom line is that top speed really isn't an issue. Of course, you guys need to defeat the speed governor that will kick in at 125-7. We've seen in excess of 140 on the track before it was time to lift/brake.
With a 235/40R17 (24.4-inch dia.), at 6,500 rpm in 5th, you're looking at 144 mph; again STOCK gearing. At 7,000, you're talking 155. At 7,500 you're at 166. You guys will likely run into your power not overcoming the drag before you ever run into a gearing issue...
