Best bang for the buck!
The best way to increase the power in any naturally aspirated engine is to help it breath. So high flow or cold air intake, exhaust manifold, and/or cat back exhaust system. All three for the best bang for the buck.

^^ First off get a bike. They go fast. tC's dont go fast. Therefore if you want to go fast get a bike. Thank you.
Or use the search button. Either way. The bike will be a $4k plus learning experience or the search is free. Which ever.

If you are looking to improve the performance of your tC I would not start with trying to add HP. If I were you i would start with the suspension and go from there. Change your springs out tsome TRD's or Hotchkis. Get a TRD rear sway or a set of front and rear Hotchkis sways. Invest in some new tires . All these things will help you utilize the power the car already has. Just a thought. Here's a link to our suspension section on our site.

Over all you'll end up spending less money with much better results.

ahem....
but onto the "help" the best way to increase HP is turbo, the smog legal method (at least for california) is to supercharge. Both give a good increase for the dollar and can have add-ons to add even more power

i agree that if you want horsepower the only way to get it cheaply is boost. Or nos. The rest is just b/s and you can throw $1000's worth of n/a mods onto your car and it will still be slow.

I would start off with some suspension mods, stiffer springs, better shocks, some strut bars, and definitely better tires. Throw an intake on there and a NST pulley kit. Those are all things that will make your car put some power to the ground more efficiently.
