when i had my tc, i shifted around 3000-3200 rpm.....it all depends on your driving habits.....the guidelines in the owners manual are just guidelines, not laws....so for daily driving like on streets, shifting at 3k is just fine unless you are an "aggressive driver" with a heavy foot, which will eventually kill your gas mileage....now if you want to get on the highway, downshift and go through the rpm range,.....until your at a appropriate speed

for everyday daily driving ill usually keep the rpms between 2500 and 3000-ish give or take a little.
if i get on it ill shift around 4k - 4.5K or if im in the mood and i get a empty stretch of road ill redline once in a while.

For fuel eff. I shift at 3000 or lower. When I race I shift at 5700. Thats what the dynos for. Peik horsepower is at 5700 last time I dyno'd. 3000 is when the vvt-i kicks in, when that hits thats when you burn little more gas.

the reccommended shift points in the manaul are pretty much for optimal gas mileage.
you can run 2nd gear to 54 mph, third gear up to 77 mph, and 4th gear to 106, and 5th gear to 127.
but i usually shift to keep rpms around 2000 rpms.
