Default Shifting?!

Can someone please tell me what rpms to shift at or when the peak power is. I have an 07 TC stick.......please tell me someone knows. It seems like when i get it up to redline and shift it doesnt pull into the next gear and seems like it loses power around redline. Thank You

You're right. The engine does loose steam on the top end. I'd call "when to shift" a butt-dyno thing. If you get into the higher revs, you shift, and the next gear seems to pull STRONGER than the one before it, you waited too long. Someone's going to quote you a specific RPM. But unless they've dyno'd your car and then done the math with the gear ratios, their number is most likely going to be from their OWN personal experience. I think the only surefire way to figure this out is to find some quiet roads and blow about 1/2 tank of gas. And if you get stopped by the fuzz, call it "empirical research". :D

i'm not 100% sure, but if you want to shift for fastest acceleration, you want to shift so that the tach is where your peak torque is, and then stay in that gear until you reach the rpm where peak hp is and upshift. whatelse...doesn't vvt-i kick in during like the mid 3k rpm area?

VVT-i doesn't "kick in". This isn't V-TECH. The VVT-i is constantly adjusting for optimal efficiency and power.

.... Anyways, you need to shift right at peak HP to get the most out of the engine, if you always shift at peak TQ like someone else said, you'll never get that pull from your HP and you'll be shorting yourself. Just find out where you peak HP is, and shift then, don't thrash your engine all the way to redline, that's mean! Be nice to your car.

I know exactly what youre talking about and have felt the same if I am want to accelerate hard...... from my experience, shifting below or at 6000 RPM is not the proper RPM. Peak power is claimed at 6000 RPM so power does fall off after that, but I usually take mine to 6500 RPM before I shift to get to a higher RPM in the next gear. Limiter for 07 MY is ~6600. Torque and power curve seems a bit different from 05-06 MY.

^^^ the only way to really tell is on the track. Even dyno's wont tell the whole truth or have the answers.
