Default Short block vs. long block?

What is the difference between short or long block and what would be the benifits of either?

I noticed ZPI sells both upgrades for are tC's just wanted to know what it would do exactly!

I'm not sure what ZPI includes, but typically a short block is the block, crank, rods, pistons, and rings.
Long blocks usually have the cylinder head, valvetrain, sometimes valve cover(s), timing components, etc....basically more complete.
For the most part, all I can order from Toyota are short blocks.
