Simple gas mileage questions

^^ If anything it will make it worse, dont every believe the "Increase in power and mileage" crap put out by any of them. You are pulling in cooler, denser air, so you are adding more fuel (this is the whole concept of why they add power), although their effects (on power and mileage) are very small.
As far as mileage, miles per tank means zero. As far as mileage, with a mixture of 9 hour road trips, back and forth to work city driving, 95 degree to -15 degree weather (A couple of times in 100 degree weather during trips) and occassional running hard, I have averaged right at 25 mpg overall since I bought the car. Not too bad really.

RPM @ 80 mph is about 3700
I average 315 miles on 13 gallons for a little over 24 mpg 60% city. I drive a manual and shift between 2800-3000 rpm, but I get on the gas pretty hard every now and then.

I always calculate my milage right after I fill up. Never write it down though, maybe I should do that, guess I'm just a bit too lazy but still pretty ****. Anyway I have an '06 Nautical Blue Manual and I drive it easy to moderate mostly with some very hard runs every once in awhile. I'm always the first off a light up to the speed limit if i'm in the pole position, however I tend to shift at 2000 rpm or sooner if I can and at partial throttle angles (full throttle only momentarily). I do 80% of my driving in the city and love to shift, but also realize that lower revs will get better milage. If i'm not shifting at 2000, I'm shifting at near redline (full throttle) and getting rubber in the first 3 gears. My results:
Winter gas (city/hwy; 70/30-0/100) 26.8mpg-27.4mpg
Summer gas (city/hwy; 80/20-0/100) 29.5mpg-27.3mpg
Highway I like to use the cruise and set it between 78-82mph depending on the flow of traffic. Yes, you're reading the numbers right, I tend to get worse mileage on the highway with my manual. It's better if I can keep my speed down to 70 or so but doesn't gain much... bumps me from 27.2ish to 27.7ish (type of gas doesn't seem to matter)
Gas is blended differently depending on the season so I try to keep track of that. Also I like to try to fill up at the same gas station so my numbers aren't skewed by different metering methods at the pump. A gallon is not always a gallon at a gas station.
I'm hoping to get 30mpg this summer, and may start to log my mileage to help encourage me to drive even more sanely. If so, I'll post again

typically i get 310 miles per tank at 25mpg with like 13 gallon when average speed is about 90-100. when driving with conservation in mind i drive 65-80 and get 370 to the take with 13.8 gallons to fill up about 27.5 mpg. my 80mph is ar 3200 rpm

you didn't state whether you had AUTOMATIC or MANUAL

last tank i got 366 miles and it took 12.7 gallons for the thing to click off. that's roughly 29 mpg. 100% city. I drive the speed limit and am very slow off the line (read: grandma). manual transmission. 7,850 on the odo. dino oil.

I have a 5-speed. I am about 50/50 with regards to highway driving and city driving and probably drive my tC a little harder than I should. Not a lead foot, but I like to stay a little ahead of the pack. My tC has averaged 26.74mpg over the past year. I typically go 280-310 miles between fills.

Last tank I had was 410.2 miles and about 13.5 gallons at fill up. Yes, that's over 30mpg. I had over 31mpg on another road trip as well.
All highway from a road trips though.
I've been trying not to go over 65 too often in daily driving. That's helped my mileage. The tC doesn't do BAD driving faster (80?), but 65-70 is probably going to save you a little. My light usually comes on anywhere from 300-350. I probably average 26-28mpg right now (was worse in winter).
I have a manual.

I agree his average speed is more than likely NOT 90-100. He likely just tops out at 90 or 100 on the way to school.
aacordon - Next time you drive to school, time yourself when you leave to when you arrive. Then divide the miles you traveled by that number. That will be your average speed.

Haha, yea. I usually cruise about 72mph on my daily commute with most of it being freeway driving. However, my average speed is only around 41mph because of the slow traffic and lights once I get in town.
PS. aacordon, I wasn't trying to be mean, I was just showing you that the numbers don't add up.

my on ramp to school is aproximately 1.5 miles away and i get there in 2min, then it takes me 20 +- 3 min to drive 35 miles to school, and 23 +-3 min back from school. also the offramp at school is about half a mile from where i park. thats when i drive hard for a week and timed my runs to and from school. i can do these times cuz i leave my house at 5:30 am and leave school at 9 pm. Oh and i get dropped off to work so i dont spend that much time in traffic its all just 99% freeway most weeks. that one week the average was 94mph with and uncertainty of +- 6mph. there was 316 miles on the tank with 13.4 gallons to top off which is about 23.58 mpg. wat i said earlier was a rough estimate about my average. this is my calculated one of the hardest weeks i ran my car

94mph average?
I think you're getting the definition of average and mode mixed up.
Even if you do manage to cruise at or around 94mph most of the time, I'm surprised you haven't gotten your license suspended or taken away yet.

Kinda off topic, but I thought of something the tC needs (think what would you add threads)..
One of those displays that list avg MPH, Miles to empty, AVG MPG, ETC...
How much could it possibly cost for them to put in the car?
