Default Smog

Here in Cali we got probably the most strict smog checks and laws. I know the CAI such as K and N and other ones are not legal here, but i was wondering what is bad about the CAI's? how does it pollute the air or cause some sort of disruptance to nautre?

lafayette hill, we just moved from conshohocken. They are like 5 minutes away from eachother. If you don't know where that is a landmark would be the Plymouth Meeting mall.

oh alright i know where that is. So we just have emmisions here. didn't know it. So i could run the weapon r or the k&n and nothing would happen cuz i would prolly pass the emissions test anyway?

the K&N intake is smog/carb legal in CA.

how CAI can polute more is by breathing certain fumes such as CARBON MONOXIDE and thus disrupting the whole engine gasoline burning process and throwing out more polutates in the ozone.

for the TC, the main CAI issue was the CARB filtering process (filtering out teh CARBON before it enters your engine)

correct me if im wrong but, i believe the CARBON filter in out air boxes are above the removable filter (in the air box)

If you really want a CAI, just wait for Scion to release one for the tC. It will be 100% legal in all fifty states. (that is why it is taking so long, for some reason to many vapors of the polluting kind are being released by the CAI, even when the engine is off)

That really suck! If install an intake will give us so much troubles, imagine what damage a turbo will do? All the turbo kit that has been released so far is not CARB approved. That mean no more driving after 6 years. I wonder how those tuners in LA did it....

I'm pretty sure you get 3 chances to pass emissions.

yes K&N is legal in CA... thats why they are selling it.

K&N had it out on teh for sale then took it off the market because it was legal, then once they made it legal and it passing emissions, it became legal.

i believe CA has the strictest SMOG laws in the state. and almost the strictest in teh world.

if you dont pass smog, ur car is not legal to drive. tats all.

and the tunerz in LA jus slip a few bills to the guys at the smog station (hence, look for the asian guys) and you'll pass. just dont get pulled over by cops and have then check ur engine, then ur screwed...

usually

It's harder to find a smog inspector that will fake it, you better know someone REALLY well. besides the shop getting fined, I believe its a $10,000 personal fine for the tech. That's going to take more than a six-pack...

If it doesn't pass smog, you PAY to get it back to where it will.

HINT: Keep your stock parts...

I've never heard of CARB filtering or filtering carbon out... Are you referring to CARB (California Air Resources Board)approval?
