Default SRI with new header .... sucking in warmer air?

I have an Injen SRI installed and just recently put my Strup header on. I was curious if the lack of heat shield from the stock exhaust manifold setup and the heat from the new header would cause some noticeable lack of performance to the SRI (verses full CAI). The intake is now sucking in warmer air in the engine bay than before, so it seems like converting the intake over to the full CAI should help out the cause.

I was wondering if anybody had more than just speculative thoughts about how much "better" it would be with the full CAI. Thanks.

actually the full cai is a litlle better because it would get colder air to the engine ur not got gonna get a whole lot of more power to begin with i bought my cai from injen expexcting a lot of difference but its not what i thought so i tired the sri the full cai does actully give better performance than the sri

Ah ok, appreciate the response. Its what I figured, but I was looking for a concrete reason to convert. Now I have it, thanks.

P.S. bummed my engine bay won't look as nice though, lol.

if you're really going for performance, wrap the header & the cold air intake with header wrap. That will keep the hot air away from the intake charge.

As far as bringing in cooler air, full CAI is not an improvement over SRI unless the metal tubes are insulated. When the car is moving both will bring in air at about ambient temperature. But when stopped the tubes heat soak and high how your intake air temp (IAT) increases depends on the outside air temp and how long you're sitting. I have a ScanGuage II and have watched my IAT climb as high as 122 degrees on a 94 degree day at a long red light.

I have tried header wrap on my Injen CAI without success. Just couldn't wrap every last exposed metal part enough to make it work. Will try wrapping some insulating tape over top of the header wrap some time in the future, maybe that will work better.

Best intake for beating heat soak is Dr. Isotope's GFI.
