Default Strange red residue

Alright, i have the DC Sports Header on my tC. I could not get rid of the rasp so i took the header off to look at a couple things and i noticed that my O2 sensor was bright red. Then i looked in my header and noticed that it was also bright red, all the way through. Does anyone have any clue what would cause the gas coming out to lay down a red residue all over everything in it's way. Any insight is much appreciated, Thanks

I'm guessing it's caused by the same thing that turns spark plugs red.
I found a page here that makes the following statement;
Normal, but with red coating: The red coating is a result of the additives in lower-quality unleaded fuel and will be visible on the plug's ceramic insulation. The red coating is not an indication of any engine problems.
Guess we'll see if anyone has any other potential explanation.

something that burns red....interesting...

not sure, but if the plugs have it also, there is definetly something in the gas then

but with the crappy gas now-adays, its not surprising

I've been asking around and heard that BP gas leaves that red residue because of the additives it uses. And of course BP is what i use Imma switch to Sunoco for a while and see. The ethanol supposedly cleans out your system very well.

No offense but your local shop must not be too smart. Running rich causes a black residue, and running lean causes a white residue. A light brown, almost tan residue is right where you wanna be
