tanabe concept g louder than I thought?!?
#21
i think both are the case. the exhaust will get deeper in tone as it breaks in and lose a bit of that tinnyness. being a concept G, shouldnt it have come with an optional silencer to put in there? at least my friend's VR4 system did ...

theres no silencer for the concept g because it dB output is below 93dB and supposed to be quiet already as is. wondering if there is a universal silencer thatll make it even quieter.
I cant imagine how people can drive around with an exhaust exceeding 93dB. WTH, an exhaust that is equivalent to a jet engine. how would you be able to stand loud exhausts?
heh

I wanted quiet, not silent. Stock is silent. just to give the car a bit of life and not sound like a prius lol. I like the stock sound of the civic Si's which has a muffler louder than the tc stock.
probably shoudlve gone with the medallion touring. Ah well. I didnt go with the touring because its too expensive for just a muffler. you can get an entire exahust system for the price of the touring.

LRomero can you elaborate on why the touring better suited for an after market header? Becuase now that the greddy sp2 is discontinued and was my first choice tanabe medalion touring is my second choice and will be getting headers after that.

Hey Dilirious,
Sorry I shouldn't have made the claim myself as I do not own the Tanabe Medallion Touring exhaust. However the owners around here as well as Club Scion have claimed no rasp in their setups (that have aftermarket headers).

I bought a concept g used, it came with a custom mid pipe+ 30. my exhaust is very very very quiet sounds clost to stock, upped my MPG to 28.8 MPG highway going 80-90 with ac on. i noticed that after the exhaust heats up it is quieter however that might just me my resonator. i would recomend getting a custom midpipe with a resonator.

I have the Tanabe Concept G and I added a Megan Midpipe with a Resonator and granted it's louder and deeper than stock, I love the sound that comes from it. Like it's been said just give time to settle in and everything should be okay.

update,
the the muffler has quieted down significantly by day four.
now its pretty silent when Im at freeway speeds and its mellow to silent when just driving normally.
its loudest when the pipes are cold and if i keep it at a specific rpm.
I dont think it has to do with me getting used to the sound, it really has quieted down significantly, I was told that it was because carbon needed to be built up?
anyhow I like this exhaust its quiet, and when I barely tap the gas it kind of putters and warbles as if it had a silencer in it.
nice, just a bit louder than stock but not annoying or loud whatsoever.
