68,xxx miles, had mods on for at least 40,xxx
A couple of weeks ago the wife took my car to work, got about a block away and came back saying that there was no acceleration and the car sounded “weird”. I went out and there was some knocking around or under the header. I let it sit for a few hours, then drove it around the block a few times and it seemed to be fine. We checked the oil and it was half low, and only at 4,xxx miles, and it’s never burned oil before. Last week, I threw a cel, so I got it checked at Autozone and they said it was a p0137 and that meant it was the o2 sensor on the cat and that I was running too rich with the fuel/air ratio. Yesterday, we checked the oil again and it was even lower than the week before. We added some oil, checked the spark plugs, unhooked the battery to reset the ecu. I started it back up, cel was off, but the car died while idling. I started again, died again, started again, died again. So I started it and drove it around the block and it ran great, but I could smell oil burning. It was quiet, idled fine, didn’t die anymore, no cel. Today it started just fine, ran great the whole way to work and is acting like there was never any problems, but I can still smell oil burning. Any ideas?

could be a number of things! Check the valve cover gasket, the oil pan gasket, check around the cylinder head to see i its leaking. If none of those check the oil pressure sensor on the side of the head to make sure that is not leaking. If all else fails then go to autozone and buy whats called a black light die that you add to the oil and make sure you buy a black light. Add the die to the oil and drive around for a hour or so then pop the hood with the car off and use the black light to check and see where the oil is coming from and then you can go from there!
