torn between headers
i want to get a header soon. My first pick is $300 AW 4-1 header from www.Promotiontuning.com
But now many sites have $300 DC as 4-2-1 header. Is that true? i thought DC was 4-1 header.
The $380 Strup header is on bottom of my list, because not many people have them.
If the DC header is 4-2-1, then it will be my first pick.

from my understanding, the only 4-2-1 header is MMW...its what i have and i love it. i got it for 450 on sale....i personally say its ok to grab it for 550 simply because it includes an s-pipe. without the s-pipe though, id never pay 550 for it.

I'm in the same boat man. I'd love to get the MMW but don't have $550 to throw down the drain. I was leaning towards AW until I found out they were discontinued. So right now I'm thinking I'll probably go with Strup.

^^No save the $200. The S-pipe is overrated. Biggest exhaust restrictions are the stock exhaust manifold and muffler.
Budget the $200 because you might need it if you damage the A/F ratio sensor or the O2 sensor during your install. Actually I believe the Toyota price is over $200 for either one.

^^ Agreed, especially with the available info on SL now describing the correct way to remove and re-install these sensors without damaging them.
But for someone with limited funds for a header, as a poster described above, the smart choice is to NOT buy the most expensive (by far) header when another product will suffice for hundreds of dollars less. That way if you do happen to strip a sensor - and there have been plenty of posts on SL from those that have - you haven't already taken such a big hit in the wallet if you have to shell out for a new sensor.

thanks for your reply, So AW header are not in production anymore. it is down to DC and STrup.
I am still confuse about DC being 4-1 header, because http://www.showstoppersusa.com/produ...48c5f9eb7a7c82
http://www.promotiontuning.com/Merch...SciontCHeaders
both merchants list it as 4-2-1, I assume they made a mistake.
DC or STrup, Which one is better quality?

dc header if looked at from the outside is 4-1 but the divider in the collector technically makes it 4-2-1 where the collector is two seperate peices and then the s-pipe would be your single tube. You can argue this but the divider actually does seperate cylinders 1-4 from 2-3 which is ideal for bottm end power. If you look at the dyno comparisons on here you can see that the dc is one or two peak horsepower lower than alphaworks but makes a ton more power in lower rpms where it counts.

Yo was up timmy(how cam you forget that name lol)
but your wrong!! lol
the Alpha header does NOT have a divider in the collector(i'v had a flashlight all up in the collector) A true 4 to 1 won't neither, i'v spent quite a while researching whether the DC is truly a 4,2,1 or a 4 to 1 and CRAracer05 just confirmed what not even the retailers could. the DC LOOKS like a 4 to 1 from the out side and IS a 4,2,1 "of sorts" on the inside.
now whether they make 2 diff models a 4 to 1 and a 4,2,1 is beyond me.

just because the DC has a divider in the collector doesnt mean its a 4-2-1. 4-2-1 mean 4-runners merging into 2-runners merging into 1 single runner, not 4 runners merging into a divider with a single end.
the DC header IS a 4-1.
THE ONLY 4-2-1 header on the market for the tC is MMW.
DC, Strup, Invision, OBX are all the same design, and IMHO they all suck because they do not have a bracket for the bottom of the header, and the header will cause the exhaust pipes to rattle. i have noticed this first hand so i speak from experience.
i say your best bet in a 4-1 would be AW, it can be bought for 300-400 depending on the place. and if you want the best header overall i saw get the MMW. the generation 2 header is FLAWLESS.

No but seriously that divider gives the bottom end power of a 4-2-1 header by seperating the exhaust pulses of 1-4 from 2-3 any n/a header better knows this. The dc is not a 4-1 but is not entirely a 4-2-1 either because your only two seperate tubes for about two or three inches of the header before it dumps into the s-pipe.
