Default Transmission Cooler...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-FI...04032409QQrdZ1

I'm not asking because it's blue...
I'm asking because I'm unfamiliar with this type of cooler...

Is this TYPE of tranny cooler more efficient/less efficient than a radiator type??

I could see it just as an "infrastructure" improvement. I am thinking that you would need more transmission fluid since so much will be in cycle through the cooler. I don't think it would be worth alot, but for that price, it couldn't hurt.

It really wouldn't work at all the heat wouldn't transfer as fast as teh fluid would be in and out. I have see this setup for an oil cooler but that is a lower temp than trans fluid.

What I was thinking, is that given the size of these things, very thin, but long...
I could have my uncle fab a mount for multiples of these coolers...maybe 2, or 3...

Given that yes, heat would cross over, over the course of seperate coolers, the heat would dissipate...

It also looks the only real way to get any benefit from these is for them to be on the under side of the car, in a straight direction...

But, with that, couldn't rocks, or other stuff damage/bend the heat sinks?

Anyone with knowledge about this, please help...

you already have a transmission cooler if you're an automatic

but upgrading it will make your transmission last longer (in theory). no power or performance gains. just peace of mind.

I've been going off what people have been telling me, becuase I'm not too knowledgable about this myself...

I want to get FI...with that, if I decide to upgrade, people have been telling me, the majority answer is that my tranny will get hotter, so better cooling will help...
(in theory)

So, I want to try to keep it as cold as possible...and these LOOK efficient for size...so, I was thinking of making multiples to improve efficiency, for better tranny life...

-correct any incorrect info please...(still learning)

look at the B&M universal transmission coolers, mount it on the front of your radiator (with supplied hardware) and run the lines from the OEM transmission coolant in/out locations into the new unit.

i believe there may be some kits coming out with the specific AR sizes for the tC

stay tuned

^^ the B&M kits are outstanding. It has a dual flow system the allows thicker fluid to bypass the cooler and the hotter fluid, because it's thinner, gets sent thru the cooler.

I used a B&M cooler on my old turbo'd corolla.. I would highly recommend it for a FI setup.

From what I know, AT would highly benefit from these if they turboed or supercharged. With FI it would definetly put alot of stress on the AT trannys.
