Transmission Trouble 29000 miles

Transmission Trouble 29000 miles
for about the last 1000 miles or so, I started to notice that it's getting difficult to get my car into gear. It no longer shifts smoothly into 1,2,3,4 or 5. I thought it was the tranny fluid ( I have 29000 miles) so I put in some Mobile 1 75w90. It felt a little better for about 2 days and it just seems to be getting worse.
Also, First gear tends to "pop" out if I accellerate fast.... when I go to shift into second, I hardly have to touch the shifter to get it out of first.
Any thoughts on what this could be?
Synchros?
I did misshift about 5k miles ago, but I caught it quick and only went up to about 7250-7500 for a split second.
Could I have screwed up the synchros?
Is it time for a new tranny? ( I hope not)
Could it be because of the clutch?
Thanks,
- Dante

It sounds like your shifter cables got knocked out of whack. I'd look into tightening and realigning them before you take it to the dealer, since they're going to find a way to charge you money.
I can't see your mods from this window... Do you have a short shifter installed? Did you do the S/C installation? (it's right over the tranny) Bounce on something really hard, or bottom out ?
It could be as simple as a 15-minute fix.... if you had a REAL tranny problem, it wouldn't go into gear at all. It isn't your clutch.. a clutch problem would prevent power transfer to the wheels, not what you're experiencing.

I have a similar problem. You shift slow, and it goes into gear just fine. But hammer it, and try to shift like your racing, and you grind right? No one has really gotten down to looken yet, as it takes some money good money to pull the tranny apart and check out your synchros. The synchros themselves don't cost much, but the installation will. I would double check your tranny fluid as well. I think I'm going to go with some of the RedLine tranny fluid to see if that smooths things out some.
PS...this dosen't happen if you drive normal like your suppose to, and not racing all the time while powershifting through the gears every weekend...lol

I have popped out of 3rd before. It didn't start doing it till recently. I don't know if I want to pay to have it pulled apart ($500+), or just say screw it, keep racing, and tell ZPI to float me that 6spd tranny when they get done with it.
PS....we have about 18k+ miles. And have been boosted + racing every weekend for probably 7k+ of those 18.

As stated, I think the shifter cable alignment is off from the installation of the TRD quickshifter.
And i couldn't see the mod list from the "post reply" section... but i guess i pretty much called it anyway

OK everyone... I drained the tranny today and filled it up with some Redline MT-90. The shifter goes in like butta... lol
Nice and smooth. I think the Mobile 1 was making it worse ^^^
funny because that's what they gave me at Pep Boys. They looked up the car and said "that's what you need"
Thanks for the input... I'll kepp you posted if it gets bad again

Eh, Mobil 1 is over rated. The are not known for their trany fluid. Their oil could be abused on here too, but this one's about trany fluid. Always seems to have a noiser output when that trany fluid is used.
MT-90 is what I have and it's great.

Possibly, but I know their oil has a graphite powder in it that eventually begins to scar cylinder walls and pistons. Not sure about their trany fluid but I'm sure it's around the same make up. MT-90 seems to be the best pic through all the forums I've searched and I'm really happy with how it feels in mine. I have a short throw so it did tighten up a bit, but still very smooth in comparison to stock throws.
