TRD CAI on scion web site
TRD Cold Air Intake (no photo on site)
$440.00 (price excludes tax and installation)
Improve your flow with TRD's Cold Air Intake for the tC. Featuring 53.5 mm diameter (2.5 inch) mandrel bent aluminum tubing with a unique polished black chrome look finish. The TRD Cold Air Intake is tuned to increase horsepower and torque. It comes with a reusable high-flow, low restriction air filter and a by-pass valve prevents water induction.

Its on the site, but who will pay $440 +tax & installation? MY K&N was $200 shipped, granted its not good for CA, and there is no by-pass valve. But will people pay somewhere around $540 for an intake installed at the dealer. Unless it will give off some real HP.
I could see $300, but $450....., then again I did pay 525 for the TRD muffler.

Overpriced.... and Injen posts better HP numbers, so that's where I'd suggest people go.... I can't believe they priced it that high compared to all the A/M options out there at less than half.

But my opinion it is expensive and it probably won't have much HP... Do we even know if it's carb? If it is then it really won't yeild hp! Just my thoughts

I took care of it for you.... but thanks....
In regards to Injen vs TRD - Just an observation but usually carb = HP turns out to be not mathamatically possible.

Funny how it lands on my b-day??? To bad TRD missed the boat on CAI fest. One would think that you would want to market your N/A product before you release your FI. You know to make us pay for a $440+ product that will be usless for your TRD Supercharger. Oh well, people can put this to rest (except the dyno #'s).

If you read the fine print it states, "In California this part may legally be used on a racing vehicle which will NEVER be operated on public roads" It doesn't even specify if the TRD CAI is legal in Cali. $440 for a CAI that MAYBE isn't even legal in Cali? Forgetaboutit! If one is so encouraged to purchase one of these when they become available, I'm sure trdsparks.com would sell these at a decent price.
