Default TRD CAI vs. Injen CAI

Looking for price and hp reviews of each. Also, my dealer gave me some crap about me having to use a TRD to prevent voiding the warranty on my tC's engine... any one have any experience with other brand CAI's?

I use to have an Injen intake on our old tC, until it was destroyed in crash.

Do a search, there is a Dyno thread with different intakes, and Injen was the best preformer.

The TRD intake info states that it may adversly effect warranty... so neither will help you too much in that regard...

I personally think the Injen is pretty remarkable, given the tests it's been in... so I'd go that direction...

Not to mention the TRD intake is GROSSLY overpriced.

Moving to N/A

Under "Federal Law" a dealership has no right to void your warranty becuase of aftermarket products BUT they can if those aftermarket products cause damage to the car/engine. Also they have to prove that the add on's are what caused the problems which can lead to spending time and money. So its your choice to add them and they can't do anything about it but if something happens to the car then it could cost you some money. But anywho....Injen is better. I have a K&N and want to switch over.

hey just want to let you know, i worked for libertyville toyota, scion. trd had commisioned injen to make the cold air inteke for the tc. thats why it was on the market so fast. trd is not coming out with a cold air because CA made some big deal about it. thats why you cant get the aem cold airs for the Xb and the Xa eather from the factory. so i would say go with the injem becasue it is the same exact thing as the trd.

....? wasn't AEM the one TRD rebadged? i mean... it has their bypass valve on it...

and i thought the AEM CAIs for the xA and xB are CARB legal.. i mean.. even K&N and injen got the approval.. don't see why AEM wouldn't..

i think you're mistaken...

yea you are true about aem being carb leagal but if you look you cant order the cai for the XA and XB any more from toyota. and anyways, the ones for xa and xb were not from trd, but from aem. take a look at the trd for the tc and the one from injen for the tc and you will know what i mean. just imangen the badge not their on them.

i think that the TRD would do betterin SRI form....if you recall from the that test done a while ago...they also recorded A/F ratio....n mostly all intakes in SRI form did bad...why? because the filter was too close to the A/F sensor and it caused it to dump fuel into the engine....BUT the TRD places the A/F sensor further away from the filter and b/c of that it might perform better then any other SRI for the tC....after yesterdays rain storm...i want a SRI...i'll put my intake in CAI in the summer time....but i want to see some results from the TRD intake......but i have a question...if all intakes open up air flow...how come some intakes perform better then others???...please sombody..fill my dome with some knowledge.=)

nothing is carb legal in ca for the tc reason is because of the charcoal filter in the stock air box. if you make a cai with a charcoal filter you wont see any gains that is why the aem was never seen. whats the point if there are no gain's. also why none of the the other cai or any other intake that removes the filter will ever be carb legal including the trd. so your best bet is go with what you like or can afford.

I'm planning on getting the injen cai. It has the best gains and imo it looks the cleanest.
