Default Trick the MAF to a slighter lean condition

OK so we know intakes make our our car go extra rich. Is there not a calculated resistor we could run on one of the MAF sensor wires to trick it into a more normal mixture to better HP/TQ ?

Scott

P.S. those Ebay resistor chips make you look closed loop and run richer so that is not exactly what I'm looking for.

actually... an intake actually leans out your a/f. i use a camcon to add more fuel to straigten things out. when i dynoed my car i had an intake + header and had a slightly lean condition. Nothing to worry about really, but lean nonetheless.

Hmmm...interesting. The intake test that GSC just performed, most of the intakes showed a rich condition.

hmm. i just looked at the graph on the test and my a/f graph is the same shape but different numbers. mine is around 14 @ 3k - 4.5k then it ends up at 13.5 exactly all the way to redline. the graph b4 the camcon was basically the same. we only needed the camcon to adjust it very slightly. a change in .2 a/f MAX. so i dont know why my a/f is so much better then theirs. I have a header though, so that might be the factor

They were running an AW header too.

Intake = more air = more lean. Its simple. I think we can gain more hp *suitable amount* if there was a fuel control management for our cars like the sfac by just adding more slightly less fuel to even out the a/f.

i wish our damn car wasn't "smart" and didn't adjust to CEL crap. I need to find a 1/2 inch drill bit....

the computer adjusts the a/f ratio, so an intake wouldn't lean you out. afaik, all toyota engines run a little rich. adding an intake would only increase that richness, due to added air..more fuel would be dumped.

The ECU will keep the AF ratio at an optimum value, which is somewhere around 14.7:1 for a NA engine to have the best balance between emissions, mpg and performance. Adding an intake will allow cooler denser air, allowing for more fuel.. but the ratio should stay the same as long as you are within the ECU parameters.
