Using 2007 Air Box in a 2005 Scion tC
Hi-
Since it fits, can I use a stock Scion tC 2007 Air Box and MAS in a 2005 tC? Or will this cause Smog check issues?
Thanks.

I know that the stock MAS and Air Box for the 05/06 Scion TC is different from the box/sensor on the 2007+ TC's.
My question is "can I use a 2007 Air Box top (with charcoal filter) and a 2007 MAS (part 31020) with the K&N Typhoon 69-8608TFK CAI on a 05 Scion TC (manufac Jan 2005)"? Or is the 05/06 MAS specific to the computer in the TC as well?
I had a non-CARB approved CAI from when I lived in another state. It won't pass CARB inspection in California now. I purchased what I was told was a 2005 Scion TC Air box from a junk yard - but during installation it turns out it's a 07 air box and my 05 air flow sensor is too big to fit in the hole on the 07 air box top.
I can get a used 07 MAS for much less than buying the entire 05 air box again.
I'm using the CARB approved K&N CAI which only requires the top of the airbox and a small union tube. Everything fits together with the 07 box and CAI in my 05 TC.
The auto yard I purchased the parts from says the 07 MAS will work - but I don't trust them right now. I need to pass smog inspection in Los Angeles.
My current MAS is the stock Toyota 22204-21010. I talked to Toyota Parts and they said if that doesn't fit the 07 box I have, I would need to try the newer 2007 MAS model 31020. Or is there such a thing as an adapter?

Thank you very much! You are correct, the MAS hole is a different size for the newer versions.
The 2005 Scion TC requires toyota part 17705-28190.
Can I use the Toyota Matrix airbox with part number 17705-0D070? The 2005 Scion TC MAS fits and the screw holes are in the correct place. The difference I see online is an additional plastic silencer/suppressor in the Matrix version.
Thanks,
Colin
