hey dave do you have that goofy looking valve spring tool that looks like a midget tire iron....how does that work
iv done a valve job on a ka24de and didnt use anything like that, thats why i ask.

Yeah I know it can get expensive, hopefully it isn't any of the valves and it's either the springs or the shims or the lifter itself. Other than that, i'd rather replace those than 16 valves @ 25bucks a pop. You measure the clearances with your tc? You use the feeler gauge for that right? And how would you do that?

im assuming he used a torque wrench to turn the engine to tdc #1 and slid the feeler gauge in between the cam lobe and lifter that sits on top of the #1piston.....am i right?
i think thats the process i used to check on other duel over head cam engines.

no it shouldnt.........what you start with is get the engine to tdc #1 compression that means no valves over the #1 cylender will be open and the #1 piston will be at its closest point to the head. thers quit a few ways to find tdc #1. i personaly have always had a book to go by and id just line up the timing marks. your not so lucky but you can get a compression tester and go that route...iv never done that but id imagine it would work. i havnt had the opertunity to tear a 2azfe down so i think some one who has could prolly give you a heads up on timing marks or something that will tell you tdc.......

I have 2 start tomorrow on my day off, ive been working way too much for the holiday season. Ive opened it up before, the timing chain is still stiff as its supposed to be. The lifters still spin around in circles when I move then, didnt see any scratches yet, no loose cams, didnt check the lobes. I'll note all this and check it out tomorrow , then throw up an update!
