Every now and then, no... If you ride at 6k all the time, chances are, you will blow it a LOT faster...

And if you forget oil... Or oil Changes...

to blow a motor you need to add forced induction... (thats a joke people... think about it before you flame... i dont mean destroying the motor).

alot of things can destroy a motor. but if your motor is stock, and your driving fine, and not keeping your motor rev'ed high, you will be ok.

but here are some examples of how a motor can blow

running lean
too much boost
over rev
and the list goes on and on

engines dont spend much time at high revs unless you are cruising at a very high speed, or in an inappropriate gear for the speed you are at. tbh, I wouldn't worry - I almost always accelerate quickly from lights, shift anywhere between 5-6k rpm unless I *want* to be as smooth as possible in shifting (ie girl in car or cops around) then shifting around 3-4k etc. religiously downshift on curves and corners etc.

my tc is an 07, a little over a year old, and Ive put over 35k miles on it. no significant issues so far except for my tires... I go thru them like crazy ^^ but they are fuzion zri's, so dont expect them to last very long. come to think of it, my rears are bald... gotta change them out this week lol.

i'm sorry, let me clarify...your car makes its maximum hp output at 5700, but yes, the redline is painted at 6200

https://www.scionlife.com/scion/tc/datasheet.pdf

that is of course, unless you raise the redline

exactly my thought. if its gonna blow under 100k then its crap, toyota would of made the rev limit at 5k rpm if it was so bad. enjoy what you paid for while it's new. beat it to a pulp then sell it.

it wont hurt to hit the redline or even tap the rev limiter just as long as you dont stay there for more than a second or so. thats what rev limiters are for! to keep from destroying your engine. i know a guy with a stock rsx type s and its hit the rev limiter many times and still no problems whatsoever.
