What is a Fair Price for a Clutch Install?
Just wondering if you guys know what I should expect to pay for a clutch install.
I have this Competition clutch I bought and my clutch is getting worn out so it's getting about that time it needs to be replaced.
Personally I like installing stuff myself. I don't trust many shops because they tend to mess things up, but I feel like a clutch is too much for me to even try.
So what would you guys expect to pay for a clutch install and flywheel resurfacing?
Thanks for any info.

Swapping clutches isn't all that hard. I personally haven't done it yet, but from peoples comments and DIY's, it doesn't look that bad. More of a PITA then anything else due to removing the tranny.
As far as prices, depends on the shop. You'll be looking at $500+ depending on where you go. Resurfacing will vary as well, again depending on the shop. I know when my clutch blew on my old Celica it cost $1200 total, that included the new clutch and resurfacing the flywheel as well.

Most labor is about $150-350 depends where you go, parts would be around $150-400 depending on the set up your looking to replace it with. If possible look for a local member who has done it and is willing to help you out for a few bucks or simply help. You'll save a lot of money if you have someome help you

I can tell you book hours wise, its 7 hours of labor. If you can find a reputable shop to do it for $300 or under, thats an absolute steal, thats more of a backyard mechanic price ;) On average the labor to install a clutch runs about $450-700 depending on your area and the shops labor rates. Most shops are $65-100/hr.
Also remember this is a fwd transaxle car. A rwd will typically only be 4hrs or less for a clutch job, meaning almost half the cost.

Coming from someone who's done 2 clutch installs in a tC, and from someone who also used to work as a flat rate mechanic, I'd probably charge around 7-8 hours labor for the clutch install, depends if I have access to a lift or not. It's a lot of misc. removal of parts, i.e. Subframe, Swaybar links, etc... It's not a hard job, it's just time consuming, especially w/out a lift. 8 hours labor X $85/est. = $680. So $700 is about right. I know when I worked at a dealership clutch jobs were always $1000+ for parts and labor.
