I just recently bought a tC. As soon as i turn off my car I can hear a large pinging noise coming from under the car. I got a hold of the dealer but they said that it was just from the exhaust cooling itself.

I asked other tC owners around my area and many if not most of them do not have a problem with such noise. Is the dealer just lying?

eh, my car does that to, is yours auto or standerd, mine is standerd, and usually when i get done and put it in the garge i hear the ping ping ping thing... i stand there, and wait for it to stop hahaha

the dealership is correct. No worries...the engine bay is extremely hot and it's natural for a car to do that...if u pay attention to older cars ..after running for quite some time..just listen and you'll hear much more.."pings" and noises coming from the engine bay. my car does the exact same thing.

its the metal contracting

mine is much better than my corolla which had a custom welded catback exhaust
it wasnt made so well with the piping not having perfect fit resulting in some turbulence creating a lot of heat....ping like CRAZY after i turn off the car
even at a stop light i can hear it inside the cabin it was ridiculous

so to sum it up....dont worry about it its normal
