Default whats up with all these crazy prices???

i've been searching through this forum for what parts are best for a tc (my gf will be getting one soon) and some of the prices for parts blow me away. first of the the MMW header, i've seen dyno sheets and this header only puts out MAYBE 1-2 more hp than other but costs over twice as much. then i started looking at s-pipes and they are all over $125!!! some even reach $200. i don't mean to ____ on anyone's product because i think its great that you are taking the time to make parts for this car but i don't see how you can charge so much. i own a 93 supra turbo and for a whole 3" down pipe that gits rid of 2 cats, has o2 bung, flanges, and perfect bends its under $120. i mean if you really want you can get one on e-bay for under $100 and it works just the same, its just a peice of pipe. well anyway i'll stop my rant now, just wanted to know whats up. thanks

What's up with these prices?

Because people will pay them. Plain and simple. If we all bought $180 megan headers instead of $300 alphawerks and $700 MMW, we'd see a price drop.

Dealers can get away with $35,000 civics because there are morons who will pay it.

There is a great saying and it goes like this, "you gotta pay to play." When the Supra was a brand new platform in the early 90s you could not even dream of getting a downpipe for 100 bucks... now here we are years later, tons have already been sold, and prices have dropped. The fact of the matter is, these small companies have to put TONS of money into development and initial R&D to begin a new project. I do not mind paying the higher prices if the quality is there and I see a company that is dedicated to future development for our cars

i understand the whole "gotta pay to play" thing but there is a limit. also i'm sure Megan did some research before making their header also, you can't just slap some pipes together and hope it works, but is there really a reason others should cost over twice as much? the quality is better, i'm sure, but are better welds worth hundreds more? this header also put down 1-2hp more than the megan but thats so little it could have been caused by them testing on different cars, or testing the megan after the motor was heat soaked......
not trying to start a war but when Scion built these cars they were built in a way that would allow the price to be low enough so that younger people can enjoy them so i would think that these companies would have this in mind when selling their products.

sup, 92 was mk3 and 93+ is mk4 and o yea wat brand are you using for ur exhaust. when i was checkin for supra parts it s not cheap!! im not tryin 2 start a fight. most or the company here is a small so they have to custom made theres then sell it for more.... and if u think about it a cat back dependin on brand names it cost anywhere from 500-1300+ cause i know on my old honda v6 comptech headers were 1200 for it just for headers and thats with a big company.

First of all -- let me say '93 Supra = SICK. But the parts were not that cheap in 94-95. My friend had one and it was the first car I learned how to mod. By 2014 Scion parts will be a WHOLE LOT cheaper then they are now for sheez.

thanks for the comments on my car. yes a 92 is a mkiii 93+ is a mkiv. well i guess your right, it is what it is. there are parts for the supra that are cheap. when you want hks, greddy... stuff is when you start paying the big $$$ but thats why many people don't get their stuff anymore, they go with e-bay stuff or cheaper versions of hks stuff that is made by smaller companies. o well. i'll still be getting a megan,dc, or AW header. maybe a custom s-pipe. and a pm cat back.

they still do but just the fact some stuff on ebay that are brand name they could sell a lil less because ebay is multi billion dallor corp. so if they get 5% of the pie in performance parts that droppin the price a lil lower theyll do that cause they get alot more customers and if your goin 4 headers back i would get the draxas i dont spondor them or anything but they have a life time warranty but i dont know what is ur goal on ur girls car....

well my goal is to make as much power as i can w/o forced induction or dumping butt loads of money into it. its not like she's going to race it or anything but i'll be driving it once in a while so i'd like to make it faster. the reason i like PM's exhaust is because i've heard it and love the sound. also they're about 1-1 1/2 hours away from me so i can go there. but since you did bring it up, i will look further into the Draxas kit. thanks for the replies.
