how about carbon fiber, it's cheap to buy and easy to make a tube, good thermal properties too, and you can build your own stuff.

Not so much. Molding carbon fiber requires molds and time consuming and expensive autoclaves to bake to keep their shape. Otherwise it will be brittle and crack easily

guy came into my work adn molded a arospeed intake some like crappy one from walmart and made a carbon fiber mold of it and it looks pretty sick
