Default Why is TRD going with a Centrifugal supercharger?

Why all the sudden is TRD opting for the centrifugal type supercharger instead of their traditional roots type superchargers?

There has to be a reason for switchin it up...im just curious!

Centrifugal designs are typically less complex and more efficient than the roots or screw types. They do, however rely more heavily on rpm to provide boost, so low end boost is sacraficed compared to the other two types. The centrifugal design also heats the charge air less than the other two designs, meaning less need to add an intercooler (but this design is also typically easier to add an intercooler to).

There are other differences obviously, but these are some of the reasons they would choose this design over the others.

**EDIT**
In reading my post (yes I should proofread before posting the first time )

The centrifugal SC creates less charge air temp rise than the ROOTS type, it is closer to being equal to the screw type in this respect.

Here is a great article I found comparing Roots vs. Centrifugal vs. Screw Type Superchargers....

Lots of info on this site about forced induction.

Easier install because the intake manifold faces the firewall. Roots type would be a PITA to install for the dealers.

hope blitz releases a supercharger for the scion tc, since they did for the xa and xb and the celica, i would expect more boost out of that than the trd supercharger
