I paid $149 after tax for the header and down-pipe.

I believe gloss black would be impossible because you're running 800+ degrees of heat off the back-end of a controlled explosion through them.

I got these done for a functional purpose, not the bling ;p

Yea, because just painting them with some high temp. engine paint would've given the same benefit as having them professionally ceramic coated.

Try reading the thread next time :p

is he for real? Dude, that is a ceramic coating, not black engine paint. Engine paint woul flake off of a header so fast it would make your head spin.

By the way man, It look very nice coated. How much cooler is it? Is it cooler than the stock uncoated manifold?

definitly. the stock one doesn't even have a coat, just naked half-rusted metal.

it cools off extremely fast. ~90min after the car is off i can touch it without burning :p

it'll be better once I wrap it.

is it really that big of a difference? i've seen the paint cans advertise like ceramic flakes that will hold up to 1500 degrees..................... so enlighten me, what are the benefits of cermaic coating? Other than looks, is it really worth the said benefits?

Jolton, do you really gotta be an a$$ all the time. I see you all sorts of threads and never have anything nice to say. And what's worse is that you don't even have a Scion to talk. I mean you can be on here and appreciate cars like everybody else, but APPRECIATE them and what people do, not talk trash.

lol, ___ all the time? so can you point this out? cause i don't even post thaaat often. and i don't even have a scion to talk about? https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=105718

i'm not trying to be an ___, its just that i don't hear about many people ceramic coating their headers.......i know they get heat wrap.......so i'm just thinking that it provides little benefits for the cost. I THINK the money could be spent better somewhere else.....but then again, if u think otherwise, please explain.

Since I'm having my supercharger installed this coming Wednesday, and due to the issues coming to light with the oil leaking from the seals and the techs pinning the problem on the heat coming from aftermarket headers, I figure the cost is worth it, even if it was just a miniscule effect. Every little bit helps. Ceramic coat, wrap, some kind of shroud, whatever

If it saves me another $2950+shipping+install for a replacement supercharger, it's bloody well worth it.

maybe jet hot would've been better to keep underhood temp's a little lower...

but still, i've been wanting to get mine coated also because mine was bought used and the original owner had fingerprints and stuff all over it

The owner over there is pretty nice. He digs the tC's, so that's a plus ;p

I got a hookup on this guy who does custom bikes that'll be able to mold and weld up a custom stainless steel heat shield to stick over'em too. He gave me a ballpark of 75-150 for that job. now THAT is going to look slick. ;)

not sure if you realize this or not.. but when you get your supercharger they will be putting on a new heatshiled.. not the factory one.
