Default ZPIracing "catback Exhasut" Video* finally

Sorry for the delay we know a lot of you have been waiting for the video of our exhaust system. We have been having a alot of problems with the video but here it is.

Note the car has a wategate dump on it. Please don;t confuse the wastegate noise for the exhaust note.

The video includes a start up form behind, a ride in the car and a drive by.

Let us know what you think.......this will also give you guys an idea what the wastgate dump sounds like and how loud it is.

We do not have Dyno results of the Cat back yet....We developed the system and sent it to the bender. We will have some third parties test it when we get the production units back.

The head package dynos we do have we just ahve to find them as we are still not all the way unpacked from the move. We dynoed the head back closed to the first of the year we have to find them they have been buried for awhile. Soon I promise I know you are being patient

I know i dont have a TC but..

Any reason why you didn't go with a canister style muffler? What size is the piping?

Also: A turbo wont effect the sound of any exhaust.

The piping is 2.5."

The turbo will muffle the exhaust note. It acts as a muffler because .. well .. it does what a muffler does. It slows the exhaust down and uses the exhaust force to spin the turbine which converts kinetic energy of the exhaust charge into mechanical energy of the turbine. This conversion, obviously, reduces the velocity of the exhaust which is the cause of the sound and thus reduces the sound in the end. It's really a nice deal.

I can tell you from personal experience that turbos affect the exhaust sound. When my xb was turboed i had a 2 1/4 exhaust and it sounded like stock. When the turbo came off i sound like how i didn't want an exhaust sound. That exhaust will definately sound louder than it does in the video. But not too much.

hm, well muffled yes..but not a significant difference n/a vs. turbo with exhaust notes..atleast, not with my experience. you guys might be right, but from what i've done it wasn't enough to justify asking what it would sound like without a turbo.

Just my opinion.

The system is from the s-pipe back. At the end of the video when we are just reving the car is what it will sound like on a N/A car. It is really quiet if you listen to the videos of the HKS etc they are a lot louder than our system.

Videos realy do not give an accurate sound example as all mics are diffrent as well as how close to the rear of the car you are. The car always sounds diffrent under load than free reving. We really like the note the system has, hell if we didn't we would have changed it

Exhaust are one of those things that everyone has their own prefrence. We know this so we built ours to be quiet as we do not want to drive a bumble bee, and for maximum power as we really only care about going fast and to help others go fast.

Is the S-Pipe part of this exhaust system, or is it a separate part.

If ZPI can get another tC, stock, and film it we can get a comparison.

The only way we can get a real sound would be to have a 1/4 mile track inside a sound room but you know, a comparison would help a lot too.

I actually think that it's not as loud as the video seems since I heard a video of a stock tC and it was pretty loud - I'm guessing both mics in both cases were about the same specs.

canister muffler would have to be TINY to fit..

a turbo very much changes the sound of exhaust. i don't know where you got that from.

honestly i like the sound of the setup, but i'm not going to be the guinea pig with a $700 exhaust (s-pipe and catback) that makes my NA header'd tC sound like crap...

i'm still waiting on a sound clip of a car with header + catback

The thing that everyone here needs to understand is that we did test that on our turbo car. When it is running up and down the road, you are hearing more open wastegate then you are hearing exhaust note. The best place to listen is towards the end when it is just being reved a little.
