Default 05 vs. 07 build compatibility.???

I'm in the process of an engine build on my 05 tC. I have a 07 motor but I understand things are different on the 07 and the 05. here's what I am trying to figgure out.

1) will a 05 turbo manifold connect correctly with an 07 block.
2) will that block (long or short) be interchangeable with an 05.

simply put. can I (after a build) interchange an 07 motor with a boosted 05 motor..

any amount of input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Comp.

I'm pretty sure the manifolds are interchangable. Not too sure on the block though...

u ditchin the ecu? or swapping out the 05 and 07 ecu with the respective engines? i imagine that the physical parts are interchangeable, just the cat on the header might b diff cuz u know how the air-***** (EPA) are.....

So you own an 05 tC but you got an 07 motor that your building correct? If so, then the mani should fit as far as I know. You will need the ecu for the 07 as it will be different, you will also need the MAF sensor for an 07 as well unless your going to convert to MAP on the turbo kit. Other than that I don't see anything else being an issue, but there are way more informative people on here like enginfeer I think his name is or its along those lines, and there are others. Just try to find them in post b/c they may know.

yeah, I can go either way. (build the 05 or build the 07). the 07motor would be easier on everyone considering it's already out of the car. now, I will be running HYDRA with the car... in this case will I still need the 07 ECU? (I imagen so if anything because of the oil squirters). I guess what I need to know is if a built 07 motor the same as a build 05 motor...

I say build the 07 since it has the oil squiters in it. The Hydra is going to control your engine, you will need the stock ECU for all your electronics..IE gauges, HVAC, windows, locks etc. No the 07 will not be like the 05, you get the benefit of oil squirters Other than that more experience people can fill you in.

If you are running a Hydra you shoudl have no problems. As long as the manifold fits you can run the 07 with no problems. Don't need the MAF and as long as TB are the same between 05 and 07 you can use your 05 ECU. If the drive by wire becomes quirky you can just swap over your 05 TB although I sincerely doubt that will be an issue.

iirc you will still need the MAF sensor to keep the signal that the stock ECU needs to keep from throwing a CEL. The MAP sensor is what will be used for tuning wand what not, but the MAF will keep the ECU from killing the engine and going into limp mode.

the manifold will fit fine. the oil squirters is a bonus for a boosted car. i do not believe their ecus will work though. you would have to keep the ecus for their respective motor. they have small things differnet electrically including the maf. if you go hydra it wouldnt matter.
