17-18psi on stock engine...someone needs to explain this
i was looking on youtube at videos, and this tC says "17-18psi on stock engine, 427whp"....here is the video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a2egrK0SQQ ....does that sound little weird to anyone? and if so can someone explain

Oh no.... not SS again... This has been talked about and talked about.. Dont even mention the name of the company.. it is like saying the F word.. Forget you even saw it.. As Obi One would say to you.. "This is not the video you are looking for"

well, you could run 20 psi for a dyno run.. it wont last a day, but would probably survive a dyno run. As others said, bad company. Not to mention dyno queens are just that.. dyno queens.

The 103 octane race gas might have had something to do with it, as well. I would also be damn surprised if the ECU wasn't crapping its digital self and pulling like 15 degrees of timing. Which means that the same power might have been made with 14psi...

i do have to admit that video is pretty sick i wish our engines could handle power like that with stock internals, im afraid to even turn it up to 10 i think even that would be pushing it on stock internals when im running about 8 now, i wonder what kind of internals u would need to be able to turn it up to that.

Well that 12.03 was done with less boost... I think 14 psi. They claimed that the head was lifting from the block at 17-18 psi so they lowered it right after that dyno run. Race gas plus tuning can go a long way plus being a shop car can definitely help.

Well, its not the hp either, it is the tq if you get right down to it. The combustion process creates tq. HP is a calculation of how that tq is used.
But it can vary, depending on the failure. If you have horrendus blow by, head gasket failures, etc, then the boost is what caused it. If you destroy the internals due to force, then you could say the tq killed it (or the forces applying the tq). It is all semantics in the end though. The huge amount of boost created more tq (and in turn hp once related to rpm). so it is hard to say whether the boost or the tq killed it. In either case it died
