Default 3 Suction Cup Stlye camera mount Officially tested

I have officially tested my 3 suction cup camera mount that I showed some of you a while back. It's SOLID!!!! Does not budge, and has seen speeds of 135mph with no hint of it coming undone. Of course for extra safety, I pulled the shoulder strap inside the door. But I tested it via a Race with an AP1 S2k.

Raced a friend of a friends AP1 S2k last night against my 350z.

AP1 S2k
AEM V2 Intake
3 inch exhaust
springs

350z
K&N drop in
APS 2.5 test pipes
S-tech springs
Competition Clutch Stage2 clutch/flywheel

The Z is my drift car, and that's what the guy wanted to race. I asked if he was sure they didn't want me to bring the tC. He said he was POSITIVE...lol... Vinny called me to see where to meet up, and right before getting off the phone, he made me bust out laughing cause he says...."Man, you BETTER NOT show up in the tC ok!"...LOL.. Anyway, we were doing 40 and 50 rolls. At first I was starting in 3rd gear (didn't think I could have any rpms left to go in 2nd), and the S2k would pull on me about a car or two. Then I started trying out 2nd, and I would pull the S2k by 2 cars. We went up to about 120-125 and I would be about 2 cars in front. From a 50 roll we would be pretty much dead even up till about 100mph, then the Z's top end > S2k top end. From a lower 40 roll though, Z's Torque > S2k's Torque, and I would immediately jump about half a car and continue to pull to about 2 cars.

The S2k had one 160-170 lb passenger (Vinny), so without the passenger, I think it would be dead even. The Z needs a tranny fluid replace, as I have to granny shift it into 5th gear, otherwise it will get stuck in the gate if I try to shift to aggressive. So, the races where I pull on the S2k is with me granny shifting it so I don't get stuck in 5th gear. The other races, I shifted to hard, _____ got stuck, and the S2k would be gone....lol.

I have this on vid, should be uploading it later today.

I have officially tested my camera mount up to 135mph now (external mounted camera w/3 suction cup style mounting surface).

No shake PERIOD! It's as stable as the car is. If the entire car shakes, then yeah, camera is going to shake. But entire cars don't shake..

Forget now. Would have to search to find the other thread I posted pictures of it in.

When I put the vid together, I'm going to have to add music to it, as all you can hear is wind noise at those speeds. Even with how loud the Z is, all you can hear is wind. The camera has a noise reduction on it, but I just bought it, so I'm still learning how to tweak it.

Yeah, they have that option on the site too, so you can mount to like a roll bar or something.

WHEN HE SAYS OFFICIALLY TESTED HE MEANS OFFICIAL..!!!!!!!!!!!

I setup the race with my friend with travis. Travis was solo, I was riding shotgun in the S2000. Lot of fun on 840(dead empty highway)..

put a bandaid over the microphone on hte camcorder, it's going to pick up sound but direct the air around it.

play with positioning and materials to get the best effect actually.

i use bandaids or silk.

It has a wind reducer. I want to test that out, and I will compare it to the bandaid method you described.

Cool idea by the way.

Band aid or cotton ball ... it acts like the diffuser (foam ball) on an older hand held mics or head sets which were created specifically to protect against wind interference.

Oh...and how funny is it that this thread not only has NOTHING to do with FI, but it does not even include a tC! and yet, we are all cool with it, interested, and we know it will not get locked or moved!

Hell, travis just basically threadjacked the whole tC FI forums! He's putting the TT Threadjackers to shame!

How about the Gforces ? It can handle all the turns and bends i assume to right ? I plan on using a suction type of device for recording time attack/auto-x events.

If it can handle 130+mph speeds, yeah I don't see it having a problem at lower speeds and G-forces.
