well, the 2ARFE does replace the 2AZ, so maybe the transmission can bolt right up to the engine. who is going to try it first?

Are you saying to bolt on the 6sp to the 2az? That's going to require some custom work.

Yep! That's it's replacement. Supposed to be new in some of the tCs in 2011, but also this supposed to be the year that the Toyobaru comes out too. Who knows?!?!

I don't see why the factory does not go to the 6 speed in 2011. IT only makes sense to update the TC a little bit each year. The need the supercharger to put out more HP like the Mercedes Benz Kompresor cars do. Then I would buy a newer one. Stan

That's up for debate.

The fact that the Camry platform cars switched from the 2AZ/E350 to the 2AR/EA62? at the same time means that there's a chance it won't work.

But the E153 from the antique MR2 turbo/Celica alltrac will bolt up to a 2GR-FE from a new camry, so you never know...

There's a guy on the MR2 forums who is planning on an AW11 + 2AR + EA62 six-speed manual soon and selling the kit as a california-legal swap. 2.5l + 180hp + 6-speed in a 2300lb car should be fun.
