The AEM will be cheaper in the longrun to tune, get an expieranced tuner or a friend in my case and a couple hours dyno time or street tuning with your own laptop.
Verses the UniChip you have to drop at least $600 to a UniChip trained tuner, every time you up boost or add a true power adding mod. They both add up in $$$ though.

Lance is the FN man!! I met him when I did my valve body upgrade - guy is super busy and always working on stuff. He puts out some mean cars.

He even drove us wherever we needed to go while our car was being worked on.

Very nice. I'd like to know more details about how the signals are split between the stock ecu and the aem to retain the drive by wire. I was out in california talking to aem about this last week so I'd be interested in knowing which route you took.

Looks like Lance is using a boost comp map. Very nice. Is he using 02 feedback on the car? I'm assuming he had to use the stock wave maps to calibrate the aem to use the stock sensor, or did he use a universal one?

I have many questions Rick so I'll call you tonight and we can talk about it all.

Sorry -forgot to mention. The vb upgrades was on the IS300.

When I got down there, he would have a bunch of IS's just sitting there getting work done. One guy bought his car, had it shipped, and lance was doing a huge overhaul on it and they guy never seen the car. There was also a guy getting a turbo upgrade done on his IS who flew in from Texas. Can't beat his work. I guess that's why the prices are a little high.

Wow, 19 foot rims, I'm sure they aren't helping the dyno.

Seriously though, those are some really good numbers. Congrats.

Monster spool up extremely fast, as you all know the monster (GT35R) is not cheep but worth every penny. About 3,500 rpm.
GT35R is good for about 600hp,
We are not even scratching the surface of the potential of this turbo, basically taking it slow for now but the limitation is not the turbo but the engine itself, everyone doing big power has blown there engine do to many reasons but the most common one is the stock computer not able to retard the necessary taming for the desired boost, not to mention fuel/air ration. With the AEM all this things can be monitor and actually see the true potential of this engine with out blowing it up.

We can bring up timing and do a run of about 350whp or just boost 2 more pound and who knows but that is not the point here. The point here is to build a fast ,reliable everyday car….. for now….with out damaging to the engine.
It can be done with the AEM, for sure.

So you're saying you see full boost by 3,500 rpm? If so that's awesome for only running 12 psi!

This has been discussed already. No matter how well you tune the car, the rings are too weak. Their position on the piston is also designed for fuel economy rather then performance. Good tuning helps but it won't solve the very obvious problem.
